Speaking of entertainment that we consider “part of our personal LGBT experience,” k. d. lang has a new album that’s been out for just over a month. Reintarnation is a compilation of 19 songs from the first ten years of her career, plus one previously unreleased track. I’m not generally a country-western fan, but k. d.’s early songs remind me of my coming-out years, so I make an exception.
k. d. was out and singing about cowpokes long before anyone had heard of Brokeback Mountain. It’s refreshing to hear these tracks again after her more contemporary work.
I love her early stuff and didn’t know about this. Thanks for the heads up!
