It’s Monday, so let’s do something light and fun.
Which fictional parent do you most resemble (in character or appearance)? Alternatively, which fictional parent would you most like to resemble?
I’m afraid that reading Harry Potter with our son of late—and now starting the movies—has made me unable to think of anyone other than Mrs. Weasley. I’m not nearly as domestic as she is (I manage, though it’s not a gift), but at least we’re both redheads. She’s also constant in her affection for her children and strong in their defense—qualities I hope I possess in the same measure.
I guess I’m a little bit like Meg’s mom, Mrs. Murry (“A Wrinkle in Time” et al.), who is book-smart and loving but seems to struggle with lab/home balance and with honestly explaining a complex, sometimes evil world to her kids.
I’m curious what others come up with, because I can’t think of many other parents in literature who are multidimensional enough to identify with.
I’d love to be Helen, the mom from The Incredibles! I confess, I probably do resemble her physically… but her Elastigirl abilities would certainly help out around our house! lol
Ooh, superhero abilities! Great idea.
