10 Non-Lesbian Things on My Mind

tenI’m sometimes afraid that in writing this blog, I give the impression that LGBT issues are all I think about. To counter that, here are 10 things on my mind that have nothing to do with being a lesbian.

  1. Finishing up the first phase of a major project at my day job.
  2. When I’m going to get to that pile of laundry in the dryer.
  3. Whether I have enough food in the fridge for dinner tomorrow, or if I’ll have to stop at the grocery store on my way home.
  4. Reviewing my tax returns. (Granted, the fact that I have to file them as “Single,” despite being legally married, makes me think of marriage equality whenever I do this, but there’s really nothing particularly lesbian about subtracting line 36 from line 22.)
  5. Making a reservation for our 20th anniversary dinner. (Our anniversary has come and gone, but what with work and childcare, we haven’t had a free evening to go out yet.)
  6. Yard cleanup—because half the biomass last fall dropped on our lawn is still there. I love New England. Really.
  7. Did the cat just have a hairball in the other room? (I know: cats and lesbians are sometimes a thing. But not all lesbians have cats nor all cats lesbians. All cats do, however, have hairballs.)
  8. Whether my son is playing too much Minecraft, or if I’m glad the virtual game has cut down on the random Legos on the carpet.
  9. How glad I’ll be when the statewide standardized school testing is over for my son (and how much I dislike standardized school testing).
  10. Whether my son will notice if he’s short one chocolate Easter egg from his basket.

What’s non-lesbian in your lives right now?
