My son is going trick or treating as Steve, the protagonist of Minecraft, his favorite video game. How are you and your kids celebrating Halloween?
Personally, I love this holiday. It’s a chance to celebrate without the pressure of big family gatherings or trying to choose gifts for people. After Halloween, the pressure starts as we head towards Thanksgiving and the winter holidays.
My spouse and I have almost always made our son’s costumes, which is awfully fun — the Minecraft head this year happens to be my doing. (Construction paper and glue sticks FTW.) Of course, if he were inclined towards female costumes, I’d head over to Take Back Halloween to pick out something from their awesome ideas for homemade costumes of strong women.
Here’s wishing you a slightly spooky but mostly sweet Halloween!
(And to all the other Red Sox fans out there, go Sox! Same time, next year!)
