Here’s a great video to brighten your day: an a cappella virtual rendition of “Sing,” the classic song from Sesame Street, by a talented group of LGBTQ artists of color (plus some family and friends).
Mandy Hu, who organized the project, writes in the video notes, “We are LGBTQ queer and trans people of color (and family and friends) who are performers, artists, musicians, educators, healers, and activists. We recorded this in our individual homes in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and Brooklyn in April 2020 during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders.”
Hu adds at Bandcamp, “We send you this message at a time when music still gives joy and relief even if we cannot share it in person with each other. So join in! Sing out loud, sing out strong! Don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone to hear—just sing—sing a song!”
Thanks to everyone who took part in the project to lift our spirits in these challenging times.
