I’m honored to have been named to GO Magazine’s list of “100 Women We Love, Class of 2022.”
You can see my profile on the list here. Many of the other names are folks you may have heard of, like soccer player and Olympian Megan Rapinoe, entertainers Margaret Cho, Lea DeLaria, and Judy Gold, and Jeopardy champion Amy Schneider, among others. I’m flattered to be named with them, and thank the folks at GO Magazine for including me.
Additionally, I’m delighted to see several people whose work I’ve written about here at Mombian:
- Naomi Goldberg, deputy director and LGBTQ program director for the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), whose data and maps I rely on regularly;
- Sam Kirk, an artist who, among other things, illustrated the great new picture book The Meaning of Pride, written by Rosiee Thor;
- Malinda Lo, whose stunning young adult novel Last Night at the Telegraph Club won the National Book Award, the Stonewall Book Award, and the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, among other accolades;
- Caitlin Ryan, a clinical social worker, researcher, and educator, whose work on LGBTQ youth and family acceptance has had a significant, positive impact on young people around the country.
I encourage you to browse the entire (unranked) list of “political figures, artists, athletes, musicians, scholars, entrepreneurs, scientists, motivational speakers, advocates, entertainers and more,” though. Reading it myself, I was once again struck by the talents, backgrounds, commitment, and impact of queer women. It’s a group—on this list and in general—that I’m proud to be a part of.
