A simple fable about difference and acceptance that features a group of round, whimsical creatures, the Ploofers. When one of their members (who is referred to with “they” pronouns) “ploofs” out colored smoke instead of black from the top of their head, the other Ploofers note that this is different; some say it’s “weird.” The rainbow-ploofing Ploofer is upset that the others don’t like it, until a new creature comes over, enthusiastic, and encourages them to do it again. The other Ploofers then realize how special this is, and in the end “shoof” out colored smoke as well. The nonsense words make it fun, but grown-ups may wish to discuss with their young people how the lesson might apply to their real lives.
