The White House photostream now includes a photo of First Lady Michelle Obama with Andrea and Logan Smith (10 months). Andrea is the executive director of Green Florida and wife of Equality Florida executive director Nadine Smith—and their son is absolutely adorable. (It’s all about the cheeks. Or maybe the eyes. Total cuteness either way.)
The caption reads:
A child reaches out to First Lady Michelle Obama prior to a Faith and Community Groups Leading the Way event at Northland, A Church Distributed, in Longwood, Fla., Feb. 11, 2012. The event was held in celebration of the second anniversary of the “Let’s Move!” initiative.
Nadine explained to me in an e-mail:
Andrea was invited because of her work with Green Florida, a non-profit organization that creates and connects community gardens and helps communities organize for the transition to a green economy.
She wanted to ask the First Lady, who has been a champion on the issue, to come to the Bartlett Park Community Garden to see first hand how neighbors have banded together to turn an abandoned dangerous lot into a beloved community project.
The First Lady has not yet agreed to visit the park, but Nadine tells me she and Andrea will keep trying.
What an adorable baby!! He’s so cute, yes he is.. yes he is…
ooo… sorry got distracted by those edible cheeks.
Isn’t it wonderful to see governments making strides to recognize that the definition of ‘family’ is changing? From customs procedures, to pictures with the president, we’re making headway!
