In “We’re not pregnant yet…but,” Kari talks about the intertwined processes of coming out and deciding to become a parent. She writes:
We haven’t gone through the pain of coming out to our family members and friends for it’s own end alone, but also so that we are ready to have our children. And we don’t continue to uncloset ourselves every day just for our own sake, but for our future children’s sake. . . .
I remember the night that God resurrected our dream of having children. It was October 2008. As soon as we understood that pursuing our expanding family was the path we would take, we planned our coming out.
