There’s a new e-commerce marketplace called Etsy that looks very intriguing. It’s quite similar to E-Bay, in that it lets people buy and sell items, but limits itself to handmade goods. Etsy is still fairly new, but has a good interface and some innovative search features, so you can easily find items by type, material, color, and more. It carries everything from clothing and fabric art to soaps, candles, jewelry, pottery, and furniture.
I thought it might be interesting to those of you with a flair for these sorts of things, especially if you’re hoping to make a few extra pennies while staying at home with your kids. Their fees are at this point cheaper than E-Bay, though of course they don’t get the traffic that E-Bay does. If you don’t make things, but are looking for handmade gift ideas for the holidays, Etsy may be useful, too. (If you’re looking for non-handmade gifts, of course, check out the Mombian Marketplace.)
(Thanks to TechCrunch for the sighting.)
