I was reading an article on Martina Navratilova’s final appearance at the U. S. Open, and discovered that the credit card she started, the Rainbow Card, launched in Canada a few weeks ago. I thought this might be of interest to my Canadian readers.
A portion of each purchase with the card goes to Martina’s Rainbow Endowment, which then gives to various LGBT organizations. Presumably, they’ll be expanding their list of Canadian recipients soon.
Is this better than getting a cash-back card and making a personal (and possibly tax-deductible) donation? I suspect that depends on your personal spending habits, organizations you support, and discipline. Nice to have the choice, however.
(And if you’re wondering, Martina played her last women’s doubles match today, but has moved on to the semi-finals in mixed doubles. Of course, it could be said that she’ll be playing women’s doubles for a long, long time.)
