The PBS Kids show Postcards from Buster is back with ten new episodes, notes Hillary at MotherTalkers. She highlights an article from today’s New York Times that describes the show’s funding troubles after the right wing and Secretary of Education castigated it for an episode about lesbian moms. (Well, not exactly about lesbian moms. The episode, “Sugartime,” was about Buster’s visit to a Vermont maple-sugar farm that just happened to be owned by a lesbian family. It’s available on the Postcards from Buster – Buster’s Outdoor Journeys DVD, if you’re interested.)
Hillary suggests e-mailing PBS Kids in support of the show. I think this is a fine idea. I’d add that we should encourage them to include the Vermont farm in the list of places kids can “Read More About” on Buster’s blog. It’s notably absent.
