There must be some cosmic transposition going on in the lesbian blog world today. I’m writing about entertainment news, and AfterEllen is writing about Elmo.
AfterEllen’s ScribeGrrrl reports on a serious matter, though. The Bush Administration wants to slash the budget of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. She relates that according to TV Squad, “A spokeswoman for PBS has said that the cuts would be ‘disastrous’ and would undermine PBS’ ability to ‘support some of the most treasured educational children’s series.'” She did not name Sesame Street specifically, although it clearly falls into that category.
Given that Congress has overturned such proposed cuts in the past, it’s not certain how much of a threat this is. Still, it’s one more reason not to love the current administration (not that we need one).
