Confessions of the Other Mother: Non-Biological Lesbian Moms Tell All, a collection of essays exploring the many facets of non-biological parenthood, is a finalist for the Lambda Literary Awards in the Anthology category. Lesbian-parent bloggers Robin Reagler and Polly Pagenhart are among the contributors. Congratulations to them, editor Harlyn Aizley, and the rest of the writers.
In another category that LGBT parents in particular may be interested in, Children’s/Young Adult book finalists for the Awards are:
- The Manny Files by Christian Burch
- The Full Spectrum: A New Generation of Writing About Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Other Identities, edited by David Levithan and Billy Merrell
- Between Mom & Jo by Julie Anne Peters (Link is to Powell’s, not my usual Amazon, which is no longer carrying this one.)
- Tale of Two Summers by Brian Sloan
- Erik & Isabelle’s Junior Year at Foresthill High by Kim Wallace
I really really enjoyed Other Mother and it made me feel that my own issues over the prospect of becoming an “other mother” weren’t all that different from that of other women.
Between Mom and Joe was also good. Good enough that it got too painful to read.
Thank you, Dana, for the congrats and the post!
