TIME magazine has named actor, comedian, philanthropist and lesbian mom Rosie O’Donnell one of the TIME 100, “men and women whose power, talent or moral example is transforming the world.” TIME asked Rosie’s The View co-host Barbera Walters to write a descriptive piece about her, in which she says, “Rosie, 45, is a fine actress, a great storyteller and a woman of conviction. Her opinions are heartfelt, passionate and often abrasive. Her views are not necessarily my views, but in her heart, she dearly hopes to be a force for good, a voice for people like her who are vulnerable and perhaps neglected.” Hear, hear.
Walters also writes that it was a screening of All Aboard: Rosie’s Family Cruise that inspired her to ask Rosie to join The View. (Rosie is, however, leaving the show this summer.) This is perhaps as good a time as any to announce that my family and I will be going on the R Family Vacations cruise in July as special guests of the Family Pride Coalition. I’ll be conducting a seminar on blogging and online activism for LGBT parents, along with Terrance from Republic of T.
Will I meet Rosie? I don’t know. Will I get sunburned? Highly likely. Will I have to stop my son from walking onto the bridge and trying to steer the ship by himself? Quite possibly. Assuming the technology spirits are with us, I’ll also be posting regularly from the boat so you can find out the answers to these questions and more. If you’re going as well, drop me a note.
That’s fantastic!!
