This week’s vlog is brought to you by the letter “I” as Helen and I discuss marriage in Iowa and the lesbian mom now governing Iceland. How does the Icelandic patronymic system work when a child has two moms? Moving to avian matters, we highlight a pair of female swans who have cared for eggs together, and the chicken that forms the basis for a children’s book on microfinance in Ghana.

Brought to you in partnership with After Ellen.
I love your blog and really enjoy the videos. Thanks for your energy, educational moments and activisim.
Now – I follow via RSS and the last few posts, I kept noticing a google ad for “Dr. Laura Live in praise of Mom”
I seem to remember that there was a huge backlash against her and her opinions related to the gay community.
I’m not knowledgeable enough to say I like/dislike her, but it just threw me to be watching your video and see the ad (for what I perceived to be) a foe to the gay community.
I do some web development myself and I know that these ads are automated and keeping track of what is plugged into your feeds/site is hard to keep up with. I just thought you might want to be aware of this one…
Thanks again, Mikey
Hi, Mike. Yes, that is an automated ad. I added it to my Google AdSense blacklist yesterday, but it may take a day or so to percolate through their system. I in no way condone Dr. Laura’s views. Thanks for letting me know, though–sometimes these things do slip by accidentally.
