Today we celebrate love. We should celebrate it all of the other days of the year, of course, but sometimes in the rush of parenting, and cleaning the house, and earning a living (okay, and blogging), it’s easy to forget to show it.
Chocolates and roses (or electronics and power tools, if that’s how you roll) can’t create love, on this day or any other. At best, they can remind us of the things that may go unsaid at other times. The most important thing we can do on this day, though, is to say “I love you”—to our spouses/partners/significant others, to our children, and to anyone else we consider family.
Because family is defined by love. Redefining it? No. We’re reinforcing it.
