Give OUT to LGBTQ Organizations on May 9

giveoutday2013May 9 is the first national Give OUT Day, an event to encourage people to make charitable donations on a single day in support of the LGBTQ community.

Just donate online through GiveOUTDay.org to one of the many local and national LGBTQ nonprofits participating. You can even preschedule your donation now so you don’t forget—but it will trigger on May 9 and thus get counted towards the event total.

Give OUT Day has been organized by Bolder Giving, whose mission is “to inspire and support people to give at their full lifetime potential.” Obviously, that amount varies from person to person—but if you’re thinking of making any charitable donations this year, even in a small amount, why not make them on May 9 to be counted as one of the many who are supporting LGBTQ people on that day? (There’s a minimum donation of $10.) Organizations receiving donations from the greatest number of unique donors may win additional cash prizes.

I’m not involved with the event or organizer, but work in another capacity with one of the Bolder Giving staff members. She’s a trustworthy person, and vouches for them. (As always, of course, any donations you make are at your own risk, though, and I encourage you to read all the details on the Give OUT Day site.)

I hope you’ll consider participating!

  1. Thanks so much for the shout out about Give OUT Day! We really appreciate it. Just one FYI – all donations made on Give OUT Day will be handled directly by Razoo, one of the country’s largest online donation processing groups which has facilitates almost $150 million in online gifts. Each donor on Give OUT Day picks the charity or charities they want to support and the donation goes directly to them, less a 4.4% processing charge.
