Are you a woman raising a child/children in a same-sex relationship where one of you had the child(ren) in a previous opposite-sex relationship and the other is a stepparent? Katie Acosta, an assistant professor of sociology at Tulane University, wants you to take part in her new study of same-sex stepparents.

PARENTS IN SAME-SEX STEPPARENT HOUSEHOLDSWhat is a Same-Sex Stepparent Household?
For the purpose of this study, a same-sex stepparent household is defined as one in which children have two biological parents but are raised by one biological parent and that parent’s same-sex partner. If you are a parent in a same-sex stepparent family, your participation is needed for a new research study which explores your experiences!!!What Does Your Participation Involve?
- Being willing to share your experiences as a member of this family structure with a researcher.
- Filling out a short questionnaire
- Taking part in a 90 minute face to face or phone interview
Participant Eligibility:
- All participants must be at least 18 years of age and reside in the United States
- All participants must be women in same-sex relationships who are currently actively raising children within those relationships
- Participants must have been a member of a same-sex stepparent household for at least one year
- Participants may be either the biological or the stepparent within their household structure

This project has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of Tulane University.
Acosta’s overall areas of interest and expertise include Latina/o sexuality, gender, immigration, family and race and ethnicity.
