This touching new video from the Family Equality Council’s “Allies for Adoption” campaign is the most poignant thing I’ve seen online in quite some time. Anyone who has ever waited for that call from an adoption agency should be able to relate.
Have tissues handy for this one, regardless of how you created your own family — and share it, too, to raise awareness of how equality in adoption laws could help thousands of children find homes.
(And because some parents have to travel in order to adopt their child, adoption is one of the topics we’ll be talking about tonight at the Twitter party on LGBT family travel. Join us from 9 to 10 p.m. EST by following the hashtags #TMOM and #RIFamily.)
My partner got the call. I was at work – for an LGBTQ organization – when she called me. I closed my office door and screeched when I heard the news. (I’ve never been very subtle.) I was hosting volunteer night, so when I walked back into the room with all my volunteers and told them what my ruckus was about, I got a great many hugs and whoops. Ah-mazing!
Allies are needed. Yes. There are so many parents waiting for this call. My deepest appreciation to you for posting this.
Great story, RoiAnn! Thanks so much for sharing.
