In other military mom news, Alicia Butler and Judith Chedville were given the Ambassador of Justice Award by Dallas’ Cathedral of Hope, “the world’s largest liberal Christian church with a primary outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning people.” Chedville is a nurse in the Texas National Guard, and the couple, who have a five-month-old daughter, led the fight that forced the Guard to let same-sex couples register for military benefits at Guard facilities. The Guard had previously refused, which meant “Butler’s 5-month-old daughter wasn’t able to access the medical care that is available to all National Guard personnel and their dependents,” reports the Dallas Voice.
