I’m heading off this week to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Creating Change conference in Houston, Texas. I’ve never been there before, so I’m pretty excited — doubly so because the city happens to be run by a lesbian mom, Mayor Annise Parker. If you’ll be there, too, please leave a comment!
I’ll be attending on behalf of my employer, the National SEED Project at the Wellesley Centers for Women, which is a sponsor of the conference. (I am solely responsible for this post, however.) Several of my colleagues will be offering a workshop Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on “Laying the Foundation for Ongoing Conversations on Race and Gender in Schools.”
Separately, I’ll also be leading a session Thursday on “Community Building: Integrating Online and Offline Community Organizing,” during the Family Equality Council’s daylong institute on “Family Ties: The Movement Forward for LGBT Families.”
Hope to see some of you there!
