Grab your tissues and be ready for the tears of joy when you see these couples and their kids waiting for marriage licenses in Ann Arbor, Michigan today.
The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, alas, has issued a temporary stay on marriages for same-sex couples in Michigan until Wednesday, “to allow a more reasoned consideration” of the motion to stay pending appeal requested by state Attorney General Bill Schuette. No word on whether these families managed to marry or get licenses before the stay; regardless, I hope it is not long before they, and all same-sex couples in the state, have full and equal freedom to marry.
