Today is the second national Give OUT Day, an event to encourage people to make charitable donations on a single day in support of the LGBTQ community. Any day is a good day to give, of course, but doing so en masse like this helps show the power of our community and allies.
Just donate online through GiveOUTDay.org to one of the many local and national LGBTQ nonprofits participating.
Give OUT Day has been organized by Bolder Giving, whose mission is “to inspire and support people to give at their full lifetime potential.” Obviously, that amount varies from person to person—but if you’re thinking of making any charitable donations this year, even in a small amount, why not make them today? (There’s a minimum donation of $10.) Organizations receiving donations from the greatest number of unique donors may win additional cash prizes, so even small donations have an impact.
As always, of course, any donations you make are at your own risk, and I encourage you to read all the details on the Give OUT Day site. I hope you’ll consider participating!
