I’m heading off this week to the exceptionally awesome 10th Anniversary BlogHer Conference in San Jose, where I’ll be on a panel about “Mom Blogging: The Next 10 Years.” Will you be at the conference? Drop me a note and let’s meet up!
I’m particularly looking forward to meeting my fellow panelists:
- Grace Sandra, gracesandra.com
- Jim Lin, Busy Dad Blog & Ketchum PR
- Natasha Taylor-Nicholes, Houseful of Nicholes
and moderator Stacy Morrison of BlogHer. We each bring very different experiences and tones to our blogs, but are united in our use of this medium to share our family stories. Should be a great discussion! Here’s the official blurb for what we’ll be talking about:
Since BlogHer hosted the first-ever panel about mom blogging at our inaugural conference in 2005, almost everything has changed: The first round of blog-kids grew older, we got smarter about blogging, and social media has continued to grow in size and influence. The creative and social power of writing about family life (which Alice Bradley of Finslippy famously called “a radical act”), and the avenues for monetizing that creativity, far exceed what anyone could have imagined 10 years ago. We’ll explore where parenting blogging started and where it’s headed, and its role in the great three-ring circus we call life.
I also see that Jim, like me, trained in martial arts. I’m not saying we’ll do a board breaking demo during the panel, but it could happen. The only way you’ll know is if you show up.
Hope to see some of you there!
