While we’re on the subject of seasonal gatherings of LGBTQ families, here’s one coming up in a few weeks in beautiful (and weird, but only in the best sense) Austin, Texas.
The Family Equality Council will be offering family-friendly events and spaces during its “Family Weekend in the Southwest,” part of Austin Pride Weekend (September 18-21), where LGBTQ parents and prospective parents, their children, and allies can celebrate and connect.
Events include a house party/fundraising reception, a booth at the Pride Festival in Fiesta Gardens, a bowling party, a pool party, a (free) pizza party (with Equality Texas and HRC), and various other meetups. They request an RSVP for the House Party and Pizza Party.
Visit the Family Equality website for more details.
What else are folks doing for travel and entertainment this coming fall? I think we’re planning to stick around beautiful New England, but will do our usual apple-picking jaunts and maybe one more weekend of camping if the weather holds.
