I’m passing along this request from a reporter with WNYC, New York Public Radio. He’s doing a story on methods of lesbian and gay conception over the years, and is looking for people to share their stories.
I don’t know the reporter, Ilya Marritz, personally, but he’s on the WNYC website, so you can go read more about him and his work. My understanding from his e-mails is that he’s interested in stories from past decades as well as from today. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who may be interested!
Here’s his request:
My name is Ilya Marritz and I’m a reporter with New York Public Radio. I’m doing some research for a possible story on lesbian and gay parents and DIY fertility. I’m not sure how much these methods are being used now, but I know that in the 1970s and 80s, there were a number of guides to DIY insemination published by gay & lesbian groups.
The story I want to do is social history, and I’m looking to hear parents and their kids (including adult children) tell their stories.
There is no hard deadline. My guess is this project will take some time.
If you’re interested in talking with me, please email or call: imarritz@wnyc.org or 646 829 4395.
**I understand this is a very personal subject. Please be assured that I will be sensitive and respectful. I’m happy to begin our conversation off the record, so I can answer any questions or concerns.**
