Award-winning filmmaker Maya Newell has lesbian moms, and turned her camera to the lives of four young people—Gus, Ebony, Matt and Graham—who also grew up, or are growing up, with same-sex parents in Australia. It’s a lovely look at their very different lives, from their perspectives.
I’m so excited the film is finally coming to the U.S.—I’ve been waiting for this since I first reported on it way back in 2012. A short version premiered on Australian television in 2013, and it had a full premier at the Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto, Canada, last April.
Variety reports that the startup Supergravity Pictures has acquired rights to the film and will be holding screenings in more than 50 cities in the U.S. and elsewhere starting April 1. It will be released on digital video services on May 1, to coincide with the Family Equality Council’s International Family Equality Day.
