The Mombian blog is 11 years old today! Thanks to all of you who have read, commented, and shared over the years!
My son was only two when I started Mombian, a way for me to keep up my professional skills in Internet marketing and business strategy while I stayed home with him. Now, he’s a teenager and taller than I am by a smidge (though that doesn’t take much), and I’m back to outside employment (having indeed drawn on my blogging and social media experience to get there).
As always, I’m humbled to have been a chronicler of our community’s progress and challenges. The Orlando tragedy last week has only reinforced for me the need to keep elevating the stories of LGBTQ families and providing resources to strengthen our families, grow our allies, and build a better world for all.
That’s a tall order. I know my contribution is only one of many, and hardly the largest at that. I feel compelled to do what I can, however, because I know the world we collectively create today is the one we leave for our children.
A big thanks to all of you for what you each do in your lives toward the same goal. You’re all invited to celebrate with me today, so have some cake or blow up some balloons!
