Take five minutes today to listen to the story of two dads in Atlanta and how they adopted their son in 1999—with a little help from the community.
The men and their son Cooper shared their story for StoryCorps Atlanta, a session recorded in partnership with the Family Equality Council. It’s a sweet tale, with one of the dads having shown his desire for a baby through volunteer work at a local hospital, and the couple gathering helpful information on adoption from other gay men and lesbians who went before them.
LGBTQ families are part of StoryCorp’s own story, too. Founder Dave Isay has a gay dad.
