What better place to be the week of the Inauguration than among 4000 or so queer folks? That’s why I’m extra excited to be heading off this week to the National LGBTQ Task Force’s Creating Change conference in Philadelphia. If you’ll be there, too, please leave a comment!
I’ll be attending on behalf of my day-job employer, the National SEED Project at the Wellesley Centers for Women, which is a sponsor of the conference. (They have nothing to do with this blog, however, for which I am solely responsible.) SEED is a peer-led professional development program for educators, parents, community leaders, and others that creates conversational communities to drive personal, organizational, and societal change toward greater equity and diversity. We do this by training individuals to facilitate ongoing seminars within their own institutions and communities. Several of my colleagues will be offering a workshop on Friday, January 20, 3:00 to 4:30pm, titled, “Let’s Talk Race and Gender in Schools,” and we’ll have a table in the exhibit hall. Stop by and say hi!
