I’m spending the week at Netroots Nation, the largest annual conference for progressives, and kicking things off with a pre-conference day of LGBTQ organizing, thanks to Netroots Connect. If you’ll be there, too, please leave a comment, or just say hi if you see me! If not, stay tuned here for updates.
The event is drawing nearly 3,000 attendees to New Orleans from around the country and the world. This year, progressive organizing seems more important than ever, given the extreme rightward shift of our federal government and the upcoming midterm elections. And much as online organizing is vital, sometimes being all together in “the room where it happens” can create even stronger connections and allow us to really dig into ideas for action. I’m looking forward to seeing activists I know and meeting new ones, working not only on queer topics but on the multiplicity of issues that impact our intersectional lives. (I’m also looking forward to some New Orleans beignets. Fuel for the revolution.) More to come.
Hi Dana! I’ll be there as well. I’ll be moderating the “Sanctuary Restaurants” panel in room 214 tomorrow at 9am. Either way, I hope to see you at the conference! xo, Elisa
