A new website from one of the leading researchers on LGBTQ+ families offers expert information for parents and teachers who want to make schools more inclusive of LGBTQ-parent and other diverse families.

Teach All Families was created by Dr. Abbie Goldberg, a clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at Clark University, based on her more than 20 years of research with LGBTQ+ and other diverse families. A section for LGBTQ+ parents shares thoughtful, clear tips on finding an LGBTQ-friendly day care or preschool and how to advocate for your family at day cares and schools. Sections for teachers and administrators give advice on creating more inclusive school environments and curricula. There’s also a section specific to adoption, another area of Goldberg’s expertise, giving teachers and administrators ideas for being more welcoming of adoptive families.

I have long appreciated Goldberg’s books on queer families and her research-driven but compassionate approach. Her work has already been used to inform education, social work, psychology, and policy, and her new site is a great place for folks who are looking for school-related information and actionable ideas. I’ve added Teach All Families to my own annual LGBTQ Back-to-School Resources list, and hope you’ll go check it out!
