Please Give to LGBTQ Nonprofits Today on Give OUT Day

Today is the 10th annual Give OUT Day, a time to show the power of the LGBTQ community and boost our collective impact by giving to LGBTQ nonprofits. Many nonprofits have struggled over the past two years because of the pandemic. Many are working extra hard as our reproductive and other rights are eroded. Even small donations can have a big effect today, though. Please give if you can, and help spread the word regardless.

Give OUT Day 2021

Any day is a good day to give, of course, but doing so en masse like this, on the only national day of giving for the LGBTQ community, helps show the power of our community and allies. Organizations receiving donations from the greatest number of unique donors today may also win additional cash prizes, so even small donations are important. If you’re thinking of making any charitable donations this year, even small ones (there’s a minimum donation of only $10), why not make them today? Simply donate online through GiveOUTDay.org.

I’m not going to tout specific organizations—there are too many that I love. I’ll simply encourage you to choose one or more of the many local and national LGBTQ nonprofits participating, including ones that specifically support parents and families (although many others also do so through their broader work). You can search for your favorite group by name, category, or location. Just make your donation before 11:59 p.m. ET today, June 30, 2022.

Even if you can’t give financially, please help by sharing information about the event on social media.

Over the past ten years, Give OUT Day has raised millions to support LGBTQ nonprofits of all sizes across the U.S. As always, any donations you make are at your own risk, and I encourage you to read all the details on the Give OUT Day site, especially the FAQ for donors. I hope you’ll consider participating in whatever way you can! Remember to involve your kids, too, in gathering their pennies, helping to choose an organization, or just watching you make the donation while you explain why it matters.
