Watch: New Video “The Many I Am” Celebrates Gender Diversity and Queer Community

Let’s lean into the music today—with the new video of “The Many I Am,” singer-songwriter Carrie Ferguson’s “gender queer disco rock dance party anthem,” starring an amazing group of transgender, nonbinary, and queer dancers.

The song not only celebrates the existence of trans and nonbinary identities, but also affirms their long history:

‘Cause the story keeps unfolding
And all the rules will change
We have always been here
We have a million names

We are kings and we are queens
We are neither plus both and
Where are the words
For the many I am?

It then looks ahead and asks listeners to envision a more loving future. The dancers in the video, young and old, embody pure queer joy and make me believe that we just might achieve that.

The video was shot in Turners Falls (Great Falls), Massachusetts, and was community funded by over 100 donors through GoFundMe and Fractured Atlas, as well as grants from the Wendell Cultural Council and the MA Cultural Council.
