A teacher asks the children in her class what makes their families special. One student hesitates to discuss her family in class because she feels it is not like everyone else’s, but is encouraged when her classmates share their own varied stories about their families, including ones with two moms and two dads. The narrator, it turns out, lives with her foster mother. Beautifully written and illustrated, with many gently humorous family situations.
