Best Best Colors: Los mejores colores

A boy named Nate tries to choose his favorite color—but he keeps changing his mind as he encounters different ones. He similarly changes his choice for “best mom” (of two) and best friend as he does things with each of them. When his moms get ready for a Pride parade, however, and show him the rainbow flag, he wants to make his own. They help him do so, and he comes to realize he can have more than one best color, best friend, and best mom.

While the book is more than two decades old now, it holds up well.

Nate is Black, as is one of his mothers. The other is White, and Nate’s sister is Asian.
