An engaging collection of photographs from National Geographic photographer Shelley Rotner, celebrating many types of families: big and small; ones that look alike and ones that don’t; ones with children born to them and others who have adopted; ones with grandparents, aunts or uncles living with them and ones with family members living in different places. Some families have one parent, the book tells (and shows) us; others have a mom and a dad, or two moms or two dads. Families have fun together and help each other. The people in a family love and care for each other. The book concludes with a reminder that there are many types of families, and asks readers: “What about yours?”
While the text is straightforward, the engaging photographs of real families and the final interactive question make this a highly recommended title.
