The continuing adventures of two dogs who follow their two (human) dads on an overseas trip (including to Cumming’s native Scotland), while the dads pretend not to notice their canine protectors. Children may miss some of the cultural references Cumming sprinkles throughout the text, but adults will be amused. Some readers might prefer that a story about two dads includes human children—but these canines are nevertheless engaging and amusing, and Shaffer brings them and their many destinations to vibrant life. The story is loosely based on the author and illustrator couple’s own life with their two dogs.
