Published in conjunction with American Girl’s 2021 “Girl of the Year” doll Kira, this book tells of animal-loving Kira’s adventures at the wildlife sanctuary run by her two aunts, a same-sex couple, in Australia. Kira loves caring for an orphaned koala joey, but when an emergency pulls veterinarian Aunt Mamie away, things go amiss. Kira inadvertently endangers the wombats and the joey and her new friend Alexis is mad at her. A wild predator and some wayward wombats add to the problems, which Kira must work hard to solve.
