Lunch From Home

Several children, including one who uses they/them pronouns, are teased at school for bringing lunches of food from their various cultures (Indian, Korean, Mexican and Jewish) instead of sandwiches. After trying to fit in by bringing sandwiches for several days, however, they become bored with them and find the strength to bring their favorite foods back again. The story was inspired by the real-life “lunch box moments” of four acclaimed chefs, Ray Garcia, Preeti Mistry, Mina Park, and Niki Russ Federman.
