Swelling with Pride: Queer Conception and Adoption Stories

A variety of queer parents from across North America share their stories of family formation in this insightful and informative collection. Not all of the stories are happy—some deal with infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or adoption breakdown—but all show the creativity and resilience of queer people.

Most stories are from White, cisgender women authors, although there are a couple of nonbinary ones and a scattering of writers of color. While it would have been nice to hear a greater diversity of voices, the stories that are here nevertheless give some sense of the many paths, obstacles, and joys of LGBTQ parenthood.
