Talking to My Angels

Rock superstar and lesbian icon Melissa Etheridge continues the autobiography she began in The Truth Is… My Life in Love and Music, this time charting some of the most difficult periods of her life: sexual abuse as a child, her breast cancer diagnosis, two difficult breakups, and the loss of Beckett, one of her four children, to opioid addiction. She also explains the spiritual awakening she had after taking “a heroic dose of cannabis” one evening, and how this changed her view of life from that point on. She not only shares these experiences with candor, but also explains how they influenced her music, and how she found love, strength, and the resilience to carry on even in the face of enormous tragedies.

There are obvious content warnings for much of the book, but fans, music lovers, and those who have experienced some of the same difficulties and obstacles may find particular resonance in her story.
