Celebrations show include Ramadan, Lunar New Year, Obon, LGBTQ Pride, Passover, Diwali, Day of the Dead, Kwanzaa, Easter, Earth Day, Black History Month, International Women’s Day, birthdays, Adoption Day, preschool graduation, Powwows, and Lei Day. A two-mom and a two-dad family appear to be shown in two of the photos, although they are not labeled as such.
A simple rhyming poem flows across the book, offering a throughline about how all of the celebrations have similar goals of bringing people together in peace and love, as individuals, families, and communities. A glossary at the end tells what the celebration in each photo is, but details are left to readers (or likely, their adults) to discover on their own.
