One offers a rare and lovely look at an extended queer family; another is a high seas adventure that incidentally stars a family with two moms; and the third is a love story about a merman and a fisherman.

Ridley Jones, a new kids’ show from Netflix premiering July 13, is about an adventure-loving girl who lives in a museum with her mother and grandmother—and whose friends include a nonbinary bison and a mummy girl with two dad mummies. Iconic children’s television show Sesame Street has just aired a “milestone” episode featuring a two-dad couple and their daughter. This is the first time a family with LGBTQ parents has been included in the main segment of the show. Watch it here!
In a unanimous decision, the U.S. Supreme Court has just ruled in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia in favor of a faith-based foster care agency that refused to contract with same-sex parents. While this is not the win we might have wanted, it is a narrow loss that one LGBTQ legal expert is still calling “a huge victory.”

Maine has become the 10th state to allow LGBTQ couples, regardless of gender or genetic connection to their children, to establish legal parentage with an easy, free form that can be completed at the hospital right after a child’s birth. This form, unlike a birth certificate, is equivalent to a court decree.
