The Irregularities are six young people with special abilities, some mythological, others alien, hidden in a secret government facility called the Playroom. When a double agent takes them from their place of safety and plans go awry, they must work together to avoid the mysterious Collector, who wants to use them for its own ends. One of the characters is also coming into their own nonbinary identity.
This is a fun story, with echoes of both X-Men and X-Files. One of the characters, however, is a reptilian whose race has disguised themselves as humans in order to infiltrate the government. This trope has antisemitic roots, and while I don’t believe the creators here intended it that way, readers should be aware, in case they would prefer to avoid it entirely.
