In 1969, Bill Jones became possibly the first man in the U.S., and possibly the world, to legally adopt a child as a single man—and as a gay man, although he did not mention his sexuality at the time. In this autobiography, he tells the story of his life and how he came to adopt, despite the odds against him. While this self-published book rambles a little at times, it is warm and heartfelt, a first-person view of a moment both intensely personal and of unforeseen historic note.
