When young Eleanor receives a (toy) rocket from her moms for her birthday, she’s excited about taking a trip to the moon! The story takes us on a journey through her imagination and the family’s active playtime as Eleanor and her moms blast off, play t-ball and build a sand castle on the moon, then zoom back home for a bowl of rainbow ice cream.
A few small typos hint at the self-published origins of the book, but it’s a delightful example of a story in which the characters’ queerness is incidental to the tale—and it just might spark readers and their families to blast off on adventures of their own.
Eleanor and her family are White.
