Authors Naomi W. Scales and Marilyn J. Jordan share the story of their lives, starting with their childhoods in the 1960s South. They met as young teens, became sorority sisters in college, and eventually realized their attraction, but kept their relationship hidden as Scales joined the military and Jordan married a man, with whom she had two children. Finally, after 30 years of knowing each other but trying to live the lives society expected, they took the leap to build the true life they wanted to live together. Heartfelt, emotional, and sometimes painful, but ultimately filled with hope.
