The first-person narration by a trans girl about her life and realization that she is a girl. “My dad still doesn’t get it,” she says. Labelle gives the story a light touch, though, making the girl’s reaction that of any child exasperated by adult behavior. The self-confident protagonist’s underlying love for her dad (and he for her) comes through even if they have yet to work out his understanding of her identity.
